During the French Revolution and Reign of Terror, Redoute, the official court artist of Marie Antoinette documented gardens and produced books portraying plants from places as distant as Japan, South Africa and Australia, as well as Europe and America. 'The Raphael of Flowers: 1759-1840' is a display of both original Redoute prints from the Helen Fowler Library's collection and new works in his style by the Gardens' Botanical Art and Illustration program's students.
