The Columbia University Club of South Texas is pleased to welcome Professor Randall Balmer, the Ann Whitney Olin Professor of American Religion at Barnard College, as he provides insights on the role of religion in the White House. His most recent book, God in the White House: A History: How Faith Shaped the Presidency from John F. Kennedy to George W. Bush, explores the interplay between religion and politics in America, tracking the “religionization” of the Oval Office across the last half of the 20th century. He enlightens the American public by discussing how faith became such an important criterion for the presidency.
