This is a play about the short-lived but intense relationship between playwright Tennessee Williams and south Texan Pancho Rodriguez. They met on the Texas-Mexico border in 1946 when Williams was returning from a trip to Mexico. Pancho and Williams lived in the French Quarter of New Orleans together. Williams was writing 'A Streetcar Named Desire' during this period, and used his relationship with the volatile Pancho as a model for the character of Stanley Kowalski and his relationship with both Blanche and Stella. In 1947, Pancho was replaced in Williams' affections by Frank Merlo, but they maintained contact until the playwright's death in 1983.
