The members of this all-star Albany, New York quartet spent years touring and recording as solo artists before joining forces to become the acclaimed folk-Americana jug band, Ramblin Jug Stompers, described as having the ability to “tackle almost any genre and make it their own.” Members of the band hail from such nationally-recognized groups as Blotto, the stars of early MTV; Star Spangled Washboard Band; The Neanderthals; and Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. The Jug Stompers have quickly become a hit, headlining at nightclubs, festivals, colleges, and concert venues, including The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Caffe Lena, WAMC's Performing Arts Studio First Night Saratoga, and Tess’ Lark Tavern, where they are featured monthly. Ramblin Jug Stompers' “ramblin” style nods to the great tradition of American string band music while winking directly at the classic jug bands of the 60s folk scene, including The Jim Kweskin Jug Band, The Even Dozen Jug Band, Dave Van Ronk, and The Lovin' Spoonful. The group’s debut album, Crooked Songs: Live at Caffe Lena, is culled from a sold-out show at the legendary Saratoga Springs, NY folk club. It reflects the raucous energy, silly showmanship and solid chops that the band’s fans have come to love; and it features classic "Stomper-ized" selections from the songbooks of Lead Belly, Uncle Dave Macon, Grandpa Jones, Roy Acuff, The Memphis Jug Band, Cannon's Jug Stompers and more.
