Ralph Ellison: A Biography
New Yorker Ralph Ellison (1913-1994) was the author of Invisible Man (Random House, 1952), one of the masterpieces of 20th century fiction, as well as several collections of essays. Arnold Rampersad, the Sara Hart Kimball Professor in the Humanities at Stanford University, will discuss his long-awaited Ralph Ellison: A Biography (Knopf, 2007), which examines Ellison’s complexity as a writer, intellectual, and human being.
