The Nashville RAINN Benefit Concert will be taking place August 24, 2006, and we want YOU to be involved. Basically, the heart behind this event began about 6 years ago when a girl named Andrea learned about an organization called RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network) that was literally changing people's lives.
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline and carries out programs to prevent sexual assault, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice.
You don't have to be a sexual assault survivor to believe in this event, you just have to be human.
The RAINN Benefit Concert will be featuring:
The headliner for this concert will be announced on June 10, 2006.
GARRISON STARR
Vanguard recording artist, Garrison Starr will also join the bill with her rootsy, folk rock. Garrison's new CD, 'The Sound of You and Me" has met critical acclaim since it's release in early March of this year. Billboard magazine proclaims: "Garrison Starr...is a musical cousin to Sheryl Crow and the Indigo Girls, but she still stands out with an appealing vulnerability that's tinged with a sly quirkiness."
RACHAEL SAGE
New York City songstress, Rachael Sage. Grand Prize Winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Award as well as the Billboard, ASCAP and Great American Songwriting Contests, Rachael has shared stages with Sarah McLachlan, Ani DiFranco, Eric Burdon, Anne McCue and Sheryl Crow. Performing Songwriter says, 'Sage has earned a place as a performer to be taken seriously, and should prove a force to be reckoned with throughout her career."
SANDRA McCRACKEN
Nashville's best kept secret, Sandra McCracken, who blends poetic lyrics with affecting vocals, in a style reminiscent of Shawn Colvin or a young Emmy Lou Harris. This small framed, big voiced songstress grew up the youngest child in a family of seven, where music was always streaming from the record player like a soundtrack. She grew up on Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, Elvis and gospel music.
TYLER JAMES
23 year-old Tyler James doesn't look half as old as his record collection. Listening to the likes of Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and Bob Dylan, his songs draw a weary ear in. He puts out lo-fi recordings every now and then full of sunny melodies over mellow indie-folk and brit-pop and recently released his first proper EP with Nashville producer Jason Lehning (Guster, David Mead).
