The Goethe-Institut, in partnership with the French Institute Alliance Française, is proud to present, as a special prelude to FIAF’s Crossing the Line 2009 festival, internationally renowned director/choreographer/performer Raimund Hoghe. In this US premiere, Hoghe presents his meditation, in movement and words, on the interplay of language and the body. As Hoghe himself puts it, “For many years I was writing with words. The body behind the words was invisible. Now I'm writing with bodies - with my body and the bodies of dancers. Between writing with words and writing with bodies - finally there is no difference for me.” Incorporating video segments from his body of work, Hoghe will explore the intriguing grey zone where the human body and the body of a text interrelate, where the word, quite literally, becomes flesh.

Raimund Hoghe began his career writing for the Die Zeit. From From 1980-90 he worked as dramaturg for Pina Bausch's Tanztheater Wuppertal, and since1989 he has been working on his own theatre pieces for various dancers and actors. His books have been translated into several languages and he has presented his performances all over Europe, as well as in Japan and Australia. Please join us as this extraordinary artist shares an intimate look at his own work.
