April 26, 1881 the first train rolled into Las Cruces. Come help us celebrate our first annual Railroad Days! The Dona Ana Modular Railroad Clubs model trains will be running each day throughout the museum. On Saturday, the Rail Runner Express commuter train will be in Las Cruces and open for tours.
Thursday, April 24, is Senior Day providing opportunities for community members to Share their Railroad Memories on camera for our archives. (The Dona Ana County Community Colleges Digital Imaging and Design Department will provide filming.) We will start the day, at 10am, with the dedication of a Santa Fe style bench in the memory of volunteer Herb Reinhard.
Friday, April 25, is Students Day, special tours by appointment for large groups and activities for the kids throughout the day.
On Saturday, April 26th the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter train will be parked next to the Depot and available for tours. In addition, Harvey Girl reenactors from the Railroad and Transportation Museum of El Paso will discuss working for the Fred Harvey Company and the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad. A barbershop quartet, the Code Breakers, will provide entertainment at 12:30pm followed by a welcome Ceremony for guests. The speakers to date include, Mayor Pro Tem Dolores Archuleta, Councilman Miguel Silva, and representing the Rail Runner, Lawrence Rael.
