Railroad Days 2012 - Celebrating Union Pacific’s 150th Anniversary
Saturday, July 14 & Sunday, July 15; 9AM-5PM

President Abraham Lincoln signed the Pacific Railway Act 150 years ago, establishing the Union Pacific Railway Company and connecting the nation. Help celebrate Union Pacific’s sesquicentennial and explore this region’s rich railroad heritage at Railroad Days 2012!

The festival includes admission into six of the area’s best attractions for families, including Lauritzen Gardens, The Durham Museum, Union Pacific Railroad Museum, the Historic General Dodge House, the RailsWest Railroad Museum, and the Joslyn Art Museum.

• Ride Union Pacific’s mini-train and explore the beauty of Laurtizen Gardens.
• See the original Pacific Railway Act signed by Abraham Lincoln on July 1, 1862. This national treasure is on loan to The Durham Museum from the National Archives.
• Explore the new high-tech exhibition, Building America, which tells the story of building the Transcontinental Railroad at Union Pacific’s Railroad Museum.
• See an exhibition of Andrew J. Russell’s rare photographs from The Great West Illustrated, an extraordinary 1869 album documenting Union Pacific’s construction of the Transcontinental Railroad from Omaha to Promontory Summit, Utah, at Joslyn Art Museum.
• Visit historic Rock Island Depot and see an impressive H.O. scale model train at the RailsWest Museum.
• Explore the Historic General Dodge House and see the new exhibit Dodge’s Tracks and Ties.
A $15 family pass includes admission to and transportation between all six locations. A family pass includes two adults and their dependent children. A $5 pass is also available for one additional adult with the purchase of a family pass. Participating venues are open from 9AM-5PM during the festival.
