Pacific University’s Center for Gender Equity in partnership with the Gender and Sexuality Studies program presents…
Queering Gender and Sexuality
Please join us as we bring cutting edge academic scholarship together with personal stories that question commonsense understandings of gender and sexuality. In this weekly speaker series held from March 4 through March 19, 2009 we will explore what it means to forge lives outside of the standard gender binary, the relationship between dichotomous gender categories and sexual desire, and the implications of nuanced theories of gender and sexuality for evolutionary theory.
We kickoff the series on…
March 18th
We invite you to join Dr. Judith Halberstam from the Department of English and Gender Studies at the University of Southern California. Dr. Halberstam, known for her ground breaking work in queer theory and gender studies, invites you consider the complexity of the gender variant image, its aesthetic form and the kinds of queer histories that such images tell.
Each speaking event will be held on Pacific University’s Forest Grove Campus in 223 Jefferson Hall from 7-8pm. See www.pacificu.edu for directions.
Special thanks to the Elise Elliott Fund for making this series free of charge and open to the public.
