Pyeng Threadgill once described herself as "somewhere between jazz, singer-songwriter, and pop artist." That leaves a wide-open musical space for the Berkeley-based artist to explore: the country blues of Robert Johnson (on her album Sweet Home), pop standards ranging from "Son of a Preacher Man" to "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)," and her own unclassifiable originals like "Ambrosia" and "Before Day" (from her acclaimed 2005 CD, Of The Air).
