Riverside Theatres and Paul Homes Productions presents Stephen Sondheim’s witty musical revue PUTTING IT TOGETHER at Riverside Theatres from Friday 9 November for twelve shows only. This work from the multiple Tony Award winner was devised by Sondheim himself and includes songs from every score he has ever written as well as some never heard before.

This unique and inventive musical will feature our own stars of the stage and screen, including Drew Anthony (Cats, Hot Shoe Shuffle, 42nd Street), Julie Haseler (Me and My Girl, Melba, Bodyline) Paul Holmes (The King and I, Putting It Together, Some Enchanted Evening), Vincent Hooper (Elegies, All Star Cabaret, The Tempest) and Anna Tsirigotis (Me and My Girl, Steel City, Cavalcade).

Stephen Sondheim’s delight in devising unusual and entertaining crossword puzzles has found an unexpected outlet here in the way he has put together this collection of brilliant songs. PUTTING IT TOGETHER revolves around a vibrant cocktail party and the relationship between an older and younger couple. The dynamic interaction between these characters and the inclusion of an eclectic range of sophisticated songs allows this musical to move from clever comedy to melancholy.

It showcases Sondheim’s most memorable songs and displays his exceptional talent as a theatrical composer and lyricist. It features well known songs such as Pretty Woman, I Could Drive a Person Crazy and Getting Married and Old Friends.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER is produced by Riverside Paul Holmes Productions- a company designed to foster emerging talent from Australian performing arts institutions. The show features two upcoming stars and WAPPA graduates, Vincent Hooper and Anna Tsirigotis.

Paul Holmes, the founder of the company and who has extensive experience in acting, singing and directing, said, “I hope that with the success of PUTTING IT TOGETHER I will be able to stage more productions in Raffertys Theatre (one of the three theatres at Riverside), fostering young actors and directors”.

Paul Holmes has appeared in theatrical productions by the Guild Theatre, Regals Musical Society and Miranda Musical Society. His theatre credits are extensive and include productions such as The King and I, Putting It Together, Chess, The New Pirates of Penzance, Who Killed Santa Claus and many more. He has musically directed shows such as No No Nanette, Hello Dolly, Crazy For You and Guys and Dolls.
