Lantern making techniques will be based on Colonial era Punch-Tin lanterns, but the results are sure to be unique and contemporary.

Paul Teeples is a local artist who creates elaborate sculptures with found wood and metal. His work is both witty and serious, a fascinating combination.

InLight Richmond 2009 is the second annual exhibition of outdoor light-inspired contemporary art. InLight Richmond 2009 will take place on September 25, 2009 (a few art installation will be on view for longer). Downtown Richmond between East Grace and East Broad Streets and 5th to 8th Streets will be transformed by art installations presented in various public spaces.

Lantern workshops and parade. In preparation for the lantern parade, which will commence the celebration InLight Richmond, 1708 Gallery will be organizing and hosting a variety of lantern making workshops lead by professional artists including Noah Scalin, Matt Lively, Paul Teeples and Sarah Hand. Community members of all ages have an opportunity to create beautiful hand-made lanterns out of a variety of materials. The night of InLight Richmond, hundreds of people will have made their own lanterns.
