After creating one of the greatest newspaper empires in his adopted country of America, Hungarian-born Joseph Pulitzer provided in his will for the establishment of the Pulitzer Prizes as an incentive to excellence in journalism, literature, music and drama – with one of the awards each year to be given to an American novel. Join four literature scholars as they examine five Pulitzer Prize winning novels, each reflecting a different view of America and its people.
