Public Meeting: Richmond History Gallery November 16, 2010

The Valentine Richmond History Center invites the Richmond community to learn about and comment on content for a pending Richmond History Gallery.

Project Manager and Historian Edward D. Ragan will present an update on developing themes, in particular Theme #1 regarding the city’s relationship to the James River, with special guest Chris French from the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. This meeting occurs in follow-up to a meeting in July 2010, although attendance at the July meeting is not a prerequisite for attendance at this event. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Richmond History Gallery (RHG) Project encompasses the planning and research necessary to create a new comprehensive history exhibition on the city of Richmond at the Valentine Richmond History Center. The History Center intends for Richmond residents to see their lives reflected in this new, multi-million dollar project, even as they learn something new. The new exhibit will consist of a core overview gallery accompanied by various rotating exhibitions and programming. It will require a complete renovation of the museum’s first floor interior.
