Edmonds Community College seeks input on its 2009 mitigation plan for natural disasters prepared as part of the North King and South Snohomish County Regional Mitigation Plan coordinated by the Emergency Services Coordinating Agency (ESCA).
The college will hold a public forum 1:30 p.m., Tues., Jan 12 in Snohomish Hall 304. Get directions to campus at www.edcc.edu/campus.
The college’s plan assesses the risk of natural disasters such as severe storm, earthquake, tsunami, or volcano. It outlines mitigation plans that are implemented through design, construction, and renovation projects to help minimize disasters and enhance public, student, and employee safety.
In 2004, the ESCA cities and regional partners developed a mitigation plan. Those plans are now being updated. Current ESCA partners include the cities of Brier, Edmonds, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Woodinville, and Woodway. The regional partners are Edmonds Community College, Edmonds School District #15, Olympic View Water District, and the Port of Edmonds.
