On Thursday, May 14, Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) is hosting a free, informative seminar regarding “Effective Communication for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a Healthcare Setting.” The workshop is being held at the Queen Anne’s County Art Council, 206 S. Commerce St, Centreville, MD and begins at 4:30pm to better explain to all healthcare professionals what their responsibilities are under Title III of the ADA for “providing” effective communication, give them an understanding of the different communication needs of the deaf and hearing loss patients and inform them of potential tax credits and incentives when they comply with the ADA. Open to the general public and all are welcome to attend. Interpreters provided.

She is a deaf interpreter, a member of the Maryland Association of the Deaf (MDAD) and National Association of the Deaf (NAD), has taught Communication Sciences and Disorders as wells as Deaf Studies, is currently an ASL Program Coordinator at Gallaudet University and has a strong background in the ADA.
