Protein Dance’s latest work Big Sale, an explosive dance theatre satire, has its London premiere at the The Place from 7 to 18 November 2006 and will be touring the UK in spring 2007.
A sly critique of celebrity and consumer culture, Big Sale is a mix of high-energy performance, pop music, props and live video. A junkyard-playground stage set becomes a catwalk, a TV studio, a late-night hangout…a war zone. The show’s characters mutate at will - from political prisoners to TV hosts, from market traders to sex workers.
Silvestrini continues his creative relationship with long-time collaborators, composer David Coulter, lighting designer Michael Mannion and agent provocateur, Richard Strange. Big Sale’s set is by James Cotterill and film is by Adam Seaman. The seven international dancers are: Maria Campos Arroyo, Roland Cox, Tasha Gilmore, Phil Hill, Pauline Huguet, Anders Jensen and Lucia Tong.
More to come on the spring tour….
