PROSPECTS FOR PEACE: CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN THE MIDDLE EAST September 17, 2006

The First Unitarian Universalist of Congregation is pleased and honored to announce that journalist, scholar and global peace activist Helena Cobban and historian Juan Cole, among the most prominent US experts of the Middle East, are the 2006 Klein Lecture speakers.

Cole is a scholar of Middle Eastern religions; his Informed Comment blog as well as his other publications have helped concerned readers understand the complex forces animating the region’s religious and political divisions.

Cobban’s Quaker orientation infuses her global peace advocacy, her writing (internationally syndicated columnist and editor and global affairs analyst, author of Just World News blog), her emphasis on the human dimension of violent conflict and her public modeling of open and respectful disagreement.
