Proof opened on Broadway in 2000 to excellent reviews, winning 2001 Tony award nominations for its entire cast and Tony wins for Best Play of the Year and Best Actress in a Drama for Mary Louise Parker (of Weeds). Catherine (Emily Rogers), a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father (Tim Grimes), a famous mathematician. Now, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her embittered sister, Claire (Leslie McCarty); and the attentions of one of her father’s former students (Dave Barker), who hopes to find valuable work in her father’s 103 notebooks – but discovers a mystery instead.
