Helen Smith, Artistic Director of Virtual Motion, has choreographed for theatre, television, and festivals. Most recently she has worked alongside Random Dance for a Creative Partnership production called Dragon Fly; Geraldo Si, ex-member of Pina Bausch Dance Theatre Wuppertal and Director of XXY Theatre; and choreographed a piece for The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds.
Virtual Motion’s last work KISMET received rave reviews and was extremely well received by audiences. Virtual Motion Dance Company has performed excerpts of KISMET in the last two years at various venues in the North East as part of a community and education programme to theatres and festivals, the last being DanciNG! the World in June 06 at Dance City.

The new piece Butterfly will be infused with passion, power, vulnerability and lots of vibrant colour, it will promote athleticism, action, flight, fear and liberation. The piece will have the trademark movement vocabulary created by Helen and will develop in its process of balletic, Indian martial art, contemporary infused choreography.
Morning professional classes are £5 a session or free to Dance Connect members and take place at Dance City.
