AIA Northeast Illinois will be offering a symposium on residential architecture on Wednesday, November 17, 6:00 - 9:00pm at the Roger and Ruth Anderson Architecture Center, 302 South Grant Street, Hinsdale.
The symposium is open to anyone interested in working with an architect to design and build a new home or remodel an existing one. Those attending will discover the value that an architect can add to a project. For example, an architect can help a homeowner navigate the complex remodeling and new home building process from initial conceptual design through the final steps of construction. A licensed professional can also act as the owner's representative, looking out for their best interest while insuring the project is built according to a pre-defined specification and scope of work.
The symposium will begin with a presentation explaining the various aspects of a residential construction project. Construction delivery options will also be discussed. After the general presentation, the audience will have an opportunity to talk in small groups with architects representing various elements and phases of construction.
Photos will be on display of traditional style residential work that illustrate before/after, new and restoration work. Building product representatives will also be available to share some of the most current materials available.
If you are considering adding on, building new, or just curious about what's involved in a residential project, this event is for you! The event is free, but registration is requested. Please contact the AIA Northeast Illinois chapter at 630.527.8550 or exec@aianei.org to register. Refreshments will be available.
