PRETENÇIÓN is the place where Mystery sits at a table with Elegance, and Imagination orders a round of drinks before dinner. It is a world where those drinks are served by a pompous clown. Join Pinchbottom on a sensual quest for Pretençión, an imaginary yet sexy element that turns burlesque performers from “Jerkques” (ordinary people) into self-important “Cirques”: infuriatingly magical, unendurably spellbinding artistes who peel away the mundane with every layer of clothing. Step into the world of Pretençión -- but be careful not to trip on the magic.

It is with great arrogance and ostentation that Pinchbottom humbly announces the return of their smash-hit summer show for a second year. PRETENÇIÓN “un cirque de burlesque, un burlesque de cirque” debuted at SpeigelWorld in 2008 to Pinchbottom’s largest crowds ever, and now comes to Performance Space 122 in July as part of the undergroundzero festival. The company’s first-ever five-night run will feature a rotating guest cast of over 20 of New York City’s top burlesque stars — including multiple Burlesque Hall of Fame award-winners — so the show promises to be more grandiloquent, more unfathomable, more ludicrous, and sexier than ever.

The show runs July 15-19 (Wed & Sun at 7:00pm - Thu, Fri & Sat @ 10:00pm) as part of the undergroundzero festival at PS122, and stars NASTY CANASTA & JONNY PORKPIE, plus NAUGHTIA NICE, ARROGANT MICK, and TIGGER!, with a rotating guest cast of award-winning burlesque superstars, including AMBER RAY, ANGIE PONTANI, ANITA COOKIE, BAMBI THE MERMAID, CLAMS CASINO, CREAMY STEVENS, DIRTY MARTINI, GAL FRIDAY, GIGI LA FEMME, HARVEST MOON, JO BOOBS, LEGS MALONE, LEROI THE GIRL BOI, LITTLE BROOKLYN, MADAME ROSEBUD, MS TICKLE, PEEKABOO POINTE, RUBY VALENTINE, and more.
