PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® and First National Bank of Pennsylvania will usher in the holiday season with “Christmas in July,” a gift drive for the 2012 campaign. Sixty-nine of First National Bank's branch locations in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler and Westmoreland counties will enable the community to have easy access to a gift drop box from July 2nd through July 16th.
Gifts collected will be distributed by volunteers to Western Pennsylvania nursing home patients this coming holiday season. Suggested gift ideas include: sweat shirts, robes, slip-resistant socks, teddy bears, throw blankets, slippers, lotion, puzzles or playing cards to be given to a patient. Last year, the program brought holiday cheer to 29,211 individuals in 337 nursing homes across six states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Tennessee, West Virginia, and South Carolina. Since the program’s inception, more than 460,324 patients have received gifts and visits during the holidays.
The goal of PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® is to touch the lives of nursing home patients through kindness and generosity of spirit. The program encourages community members to visit their local long-term care facilities in order to witness acts of kindness and compassion. St. Barnabas Charities and WPXI-TV are co-sponsors of PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®.
