Bio:
Formed in 2009, Praxis is a New York City-based string quartet committed to excellence and excitement in the performance of contemporary, experimental, and traditional string quartet repertoire. They have presented living composers’ works at venues such as Flushing Town Hall and Theatre 80 St. Marks. In November 2010, the quartet performed electroacoustic works at the TechnoSonics Festival at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. They have been featured twice on Boston's Ashmont Hill chamber music series (November 2010 and Nov. 2011) . The Praxis recorded Queens College professor David Schober’s string quartet, originally commissioned by the Walter M. Naumburg Foundation. They were also invited to be guest teaching artists for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The members of Praxis perform in numerous and varied ensembles, from Alarm Will Sound, Signal, and Newspeak to the Brooklyn Philharmonic. They hold degrees from Juilliard, the Eastman School of Music, and SUNY Stony Brook.
