“Come to the Fair!” - Annual Colonial May Fair at Pottsgrove Manor
Pottstown, Pennsylvania — Celebrate spring with a traditional Colonial May Fair held at Pottsgrove Manor on Saturday, May 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fair is a fun-filled day with 18th century activities for all ages—games, music, dancing, and lots more.

Signora Bella, the Great Italian Equilibrist, brings to life the tradition of the travelling performer with amazing feats of juggling and walking the ‘slack-rope.’ Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theatre fills the air with their period music and provides exciting, interactive puppet shows during the day. And fairgoers are invited to join the Tapestry Historic Dancers to dance around the Maypole at the open and close of the fair, and for authentic country dances throughout the day.

In addition to the entertainment, over 25 colonial crafters and demonstrators will be on hand to display historic skills and trades and sell their wares. Deborah Peterson of Deborah Peterson’s Pantry will be cooking in the Pottsgrove Manor kitchen and selling hard-to-find colonial foods. Food historian Clarissa Dillon will demonstrate 18th century cheese-making. Young visitors can try candle-dipping, meet colonial farm animals, compete in hoop races, play with colonial toys and games, and more! Portions of the manor house will be open for self-guided tours, as well.

Visitors can also shop at the Manor’s museum shop and outdoor sutler’s tent, and refreshments will be offered for sale.
Pottsgrove Manor, home of John Potts, colonial ironmaster and founder of Pottstown, is located at 100 West King Street near the intersection of King Street and Route 100, just off Route 422, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Pottsgrove Manor is operated by Montgomery County under the direction of the Parks and Heritage Services Department.
