"Ports of Spain" are a two piece band from New Haven Ct formed by Sam Carlson (Fairfield) and Ilya Gitelman (Trumbull). With looping and sampled guitars, intricate drumming, and two competent singers, "Ports of Spain" have a much larger sound than one would expect from two people. Working with upstart college label Wickit Music (Hartwick College), the band has played to enthusiastic audiences throughout New England, including University of New Haven, and The Oneonta Theatre. On December 12th they will appear on the web series "Wickit Sessions", which showcases up and coming artists.

"Ports of Spain presents a staggering sonic array, from the grittiest highs to the most delicate lows. Their inventive use of loops and electronic elements assemble swirling and grandiose palettes of sound seldom delivered by a duo. The music presents the listener with a sound standing firmly on the cutting edge, but with a feeling so natural one wonders why no ones done it before. Simply put, this is not an act to be missed." - Dirigible Press, 2010
