This course, led by tutor Lucy Williams, will explore the skills and techniques involved in capturing people in photographs, from informal shots of family and friends and the basics of street photography to more formal studio portraiture. Practical sessions will use the V&A galleries as interesting backdrops for portraiture and will be balanced by visits to the exhibition South African Photography: Figures and Fictions, as well as the Print Room to discuss the work of well-known photographers such as Cecil Beaton, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Diane Arbus.

Suitable for those with a good understanding of manual camera control. DSLR camera required.
