Your friends and family say you have a good eye and take beautiful pictures. Listen to them, they MAY be right! But it would STILL be a good idea to get a second opinion from a seasoned professional photographer who has been selling images and shooting portraits, events and weddings for many years: Bob Blanken, one of the most prominent portrait and event photographers in the DC area.In this portfolio review session, held at Bob's studio in Bethesda MD, Bob will put your images up on a 100" computer screen for critique by him and by the other participants in the class. He will examine each image from the point of view of lighting, composition, color, white balance, camera angles, cropping, and exposure and make suggestions as to how it might be improved, either in the original taking of the photograph or in post-production adjustments. Each participant is asked to bring no more than 10 images to the review session, images that typify the photographs you like to take, whether it be portraiture, child or pet photography, nature, landscapes, architecture, abstracts, travel, events, or weddings. You can bring them on a CD/DVD, flash card or other media for insertion into Bob's computer. Because this session is designed for intermediate and advanced photographers, a knowledge of image-editing software is helpful. Our basic teaching principle at Washington Photo Safari is that great images are taken by photographers, not by cameras. You can take good or bad pictures with ANY camera. Bigger, more expensive cameras and lenses give you more options, not necessarily better pictures! This session will help you to honestly determine your skill level and the marketability of your photographs.Bob Blanken is past president of The Professional Photographers Society of Greater Washington and the Maryland Professional Photographers Association. His photographs and albums have won numerous awards. He is VP of Education for the Greater Washington, DC Chapter of International Special Events Society.
