Conspiracy Showroom debuts new works by Philadelphia artists Lisa Hurwitz and Rae Vittorelli on Friday, September 14th from 6-9pm. Stop by for a champagne and cookie reception, and a chance to meet the artists in person.
Lisa Hurwitz and Rae Vittorelli will share the spotlight this September at Conspiracy Showroom; Hurwitz will present new paintings, and Vittorelli debuts new porcelain jewelry and art pieces from her Fall 2007 collection. The installation will remain up through early October.
Lisa Hurwitz graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 2000 with degrees in sculpture and printmaking. Since then, she has gained experience through her work in a variety of professional studios. Recently, Hurwitz became a mother, influencing a change in both her medium and subject matter. She now balances her time between chasing her little ones and pursuing her love for painting in her studio in Germantown, Philadelphia.
Rae Vittorelli’s line of handmade jewelry and tile work include various designs which reflect her love of vintage style and the decorative arts. Her work features a unique stone setting technique she developed during her studies in Metalsmithing and Ceramics at Moore College of Art and Design, with which she hand sets gemstones into a porcelain clay body without the use of adhesives. The results are delicate and distinctive jewelry pieces.
Both artists are delighted to be a part of Conspiracy Showroom. “I am really excited to have my work in a space so dedicated to local artists and designers,” said Hurwitz. Vitorelli’s previous work has been available at Conspiracy, and she also contributed a chandelier to the store’s décor.
