On December 1, Dalton Publishing authors Les McGehee (Les McGehee Plays Well with Others), Joe O'Connell (EVACUATION PLAN, a novel from the hospice) and Robert Stikmanz (Prelude to a Change of Mind, Nod's Way) can be found at the Sunset Valley Farmers Market holding down the Dalton Publishing booth. From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, the authors will make an appearance to sell and sign their growing collection of books and other merchandise.
Dalton Publishing launched a regular booth at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market on Saturday, November 17, 2007. Featured for sale at the farmers market are the entire Dalton Publishing catalog of books, greeting cards, oracle sets, and whatever else Dalton Publishing authors and owner Deltina Hay get up to. Primary responsibility for staffing the booth rests with the Dalton Publishing authors in a rotating schedule. For literate communitarians, the farmers market is an outstanding opportunity to pick up your favorite titles at a great price , support an independent small publisher and literature that springs from your locality, and do it all in the wonderfully people-friendly environment of a farmers market named one of the ten best in the country by Audubon magazine.
Dalton Publishing's booth is an effort to raise hometown presence for the imprint and its authors while also providing a venue for direct sales. This latter is crucial because publishing is, at base, a manufacturing enterprise, and an author's continuing ability to establish an audience is tied to units sold. No act more specifically supports the literary sphere than buying a book.
