Policies & Principles Luncheon: Natural Gas Severance Tax June 24, 2009

New technologies have enabled drillers to tap into large natural gas reserves under the Marcellus Shale formation. While many see this a potential to bring a new industry and many new jobs to Western Pennsylvania, others see it as a new source of revenue for state government. Gov. Rendell has propose a state tax on natural gas severance. Sen. Mary Jo White, along with a panel of experts, will discuss the Governor’s proposal and what it would mean for natural gas development in Pennsylvania.
