Feast Day of Pokrova (Protection of the Veil of the Birthgiver of God) - Church services will be followed by a cultural program presented by the students of the Ukrainian School ("Ridna Shkola"). (Background History on Pokrova - The Feast Day commemorates the Birthgiver of God protecting Constantinople. In the tenth century Constantinople was being attacked and the faithful prayed to the Holy Birthgiver of God to intercede, who appeared holding a veil over the Christians and protecting them. The Zaporizhyan Cossacks had Pokrova as their patron and the cathedral on the Sich was consecrated on the Feast Day of Pokrova (traditionally October 14)).
