Poetry Out Loud State Competition Finals March 15, 2012

Virginia’s State Contest for Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest for high school students will take place March 15, 2012 at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre at 1:00 PM. 16 Regional Winners from eight arts regions throughout the commonwealth will compete for the Poetry Out Loud State Championship, a cash award of $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington DC to compete in the National Contest.

Poetry Out Loud is sponsored by the Poetry Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) and is administered by Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatre. Last year 8,653 Virginia high school students participated. This year, over 12, 300 students participated.
