Poetry Atlanta Presents Beth Gylys, Khadijah Queen, James Iredell April 12, 2008

As part of our Poetry Month celebration, Wordsmiths Books is excited to bring back Poetry Atlanta for another wonderful reading from three talented local poets.

Beth Gylys is a multi-award winning poet and author of the collections Balloon Heart, Bodies That Hum, Spot in the Dark, and her latest, Matchbook, a chapbook of formal poetry written as personal ads from La Vita Poetic Press. She is an associate professor of English at Georgia State University. Her poems have appeared in The Paris Review, Antioch Review, Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, and many others.

Khadijah Queen's first poetry collection, Conduit, is forthcoming in June from Black Goat, an imprint of Akashic Books. Work appears or is forthcoming in numerous journals and anthologies, including New Ohio Review, The Adirondack Review, and Poemmemoirstory. A chapbook, No Isla Encanta (2007), is available from Dancing Girl Press. She has been a featured
performer at numerous venues including Beyond Baroque in Venice, California; the Austin International Poetry Festival in Austin, Texas; Eyedrum Alternative Art Space in Atlanta; and Macaulay Honors College (CUNY) in New York City. Her work has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

James Iredell's poetry, fiction, and non-fiction appears, or is forthcoming, in Descant, The Chattahoochee Review, Zone 3, The Pedestal Magazine, The Literary Review, Redactions Poetry and Poetics, Elysian Fields Quarterly, and numerous others. He is production editor of New South. His debut novel is Burnout, about family, addiction, and the countercultural experiment of Burning Man.
