Poet Kathy Fagan will be the next author to read from her upcoming and published works in the Penn State Behrend Creative Writers Reading Series.
Her appearance in the series takes place at 6 p.m. in Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center, located on the first floor of the college’s Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road. Parking will be available in the deck south of Burke, off of Technology Drive. The event is free and open to the public.
Fagan’s newest collection is Lip. She also is the author of the National Poetry Series selection The Raft, the Vassar Miller Prize-winning MOVING & ST RAGE, and The Charm. Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, Slate, Field, Ploughshares, The New Republic, and The Missouri Review, among other literary magazines, and is anthologized in Under 35, Extraordinary Tide: New Poetry by American Women, American Diaspora, The Breath of Parted Lips: Poems from the Robert Frost Place, and Poet’s Choice by Edward Hirsch.
A professor of English at Ohio State, she is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Ohioana, and the Ohio Arts Council.
Also upcoming in the spring series will be senior thesis readings by B.F.A. students on Thursday, March 29, and Thursday, April 12; fiction writer Charles Baxter on Thursday, April 5; and literary nonfiction author Sharman Apt Russell on Thursday, April 19.
Penn State Behrend’s annual Creative Writers Reading Series is produced by the college’s B.F.A. in creative writing degree program with support from the Clarence A. and Eugenie Baumann Smith Fund.
