On Thursday, March 31, poet K.A. Hays will read from her new and published works in the Creative Writer’s Speaker Series at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
Hays’ reading begins at 6 p.m. in the college’s Larry and Kathryn Smith Chapel. A reception for her will be held one-half hour prior to the reading; both events are free and open to the public. Free parking will be available at the college’s Junker Center.
Poems from Hays’ first book, Dear Apocalypse (Carnegie Mellon 2009), have appeared in Best American Poetry 2009, Southern Review, Gray’s Sporting Journal and The Missouri Review. Her second collection, which will be published in 2012, includes poems that appeared or are forthcoming in American Poetry Review, Black Warrior Review, Poetry Northwest and other magazines. She also has published short fiction and verse translation.
Hays earned an M.F.A. from Brown University in 2005. She currently is a visiting assistant professor of English at Bucknell University.
Penn State Behrend’s annual Creative Writer’s Speaker Series is produced by the college’s B.F.A. in Creative Writing degree program with support from the Clarence A. and Eugenie Baumann Smith Fund.
