The poesiefestival berlin 2008 will take place from 5-13 July 2008 and focus on poetry from the Portuguese-speaking world.
Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, Maputo: the Portuguese-speaking world stretches across four continents and offers the widest variety of cultures. The poesiefestival berlin 2008 is dedicating itself to the Portuguese language and from 5-13 July will present international poetry fused with performance, music, dance and media art at the Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10. The festival’s opening event will again be “Weltklang – Nacht der Poesie” (World Sounds – Night of Poetry). Taking part, among others, will be Serhiy Zhadan (Ukraine) and Tomaž Šalamun (Slovenia) as well as the Brazilian poet, musician and visual artist Arnaldo Antunes.

Beat'n'word: a performance of spoken word-artists Mike Ladd and Ursula Rucker on July 13th
e.poesie: Five sound artists and composers of electronic music are providing a soundtrack for the works of contemporary poets. The results will be premiered on 9 July 2008 as part of the poesiefestival berlin.
