Join the Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery to hear stories of Poe's friends, lovers and -- yes-- enemies, who rest in what was Richmond's premier burying place of the mid-19th century. Learn about his hated foster father, John Allan; his lifelong love, Elmira Shelton; and the mother of a childhood friend, whose early death first inspired him to literary heights.
Following the tour, Chris Semtner of Richmond's Poe Museum will be on hand at 3:00 to discuss, and sign copies of, his new book: Edgar Allan Poe's Richmond: Raven in the River City.
