PodCamp Pittsburgh is a FREE community UnConference, run by and for people who create, enjoy, or are interested in learning more about blogging, podcasting, and social media.
PodCamp Pittsburgh started out as an UnConference for a very specialized group of techies – podcasters – but has grown over the past four years to include sessions aimed at helping all sorts of groups–teachers, nonprofits, corporations, job hunters– harness the power of social media.
“We have seen a surge of interest in social media this year — not just blogs and podcasts but Twitter, Facebook, and other forms,” said Cynthia Closkey, one of the main organizers of the event. “We’re making sure that PodCamp reflects this growing interest and the social media needs of the Pittsburgh community.”
The event itself is part of an international movement, with PodCamps being held everywhere from Ohio to South Africa. There are a lose set of rules that govern Podcamps, and all Podcamps depend on volunteers to organize, fund, and execute each UnConference.
