Playtime - Gallery Show & Opening Reception at Lulubell Toy Bodega February 7, 2009

“Playtime” is the February Gallery show at Lulubell Toy Bodega in Tucson, AZ. The opening reception is Saturday, February 7th from 6 to 9pm. The show runs through February 28th . Gallery viewing hours are Tuesday – Saturday, from 12-6pm.

Playtime is a collective show featuring 25 Tucson artists. Playtime is presented in collaboration with MAXED ART and is being curated by Jaxun Doten. The MAXED ART group was created in September 2007 by Molly McClintock, with co-founders Roberta Gentry, Jaxun Doten, & J. Era Martin. MAXED ART is a peer based, multi-disciplinary artist collective. They are visual artists, writers, and musicians.

MAXED ART is a reason to make things. Sometimes these things are called engaging. Sometimes they are called art. And sometimes they are called Playtime.

"Playtime" doesn't only imply Scrabble boards and D & D dice. Anything is a game if you play it right. Gender, religion, war and sex all have rules that we choose to play by or stand in opposition to. So this month, we are using this theme as a way to call into question the artist’s own conceptions as well as those of others.

The show features various 2 & 3D media: drawings, paintings, sculpture, and mixed media. The 25 artist’s participating in this show are:
