The Juvenile Justice Fund is honored to host the world premiere of PLAYGROUND, an astonishing film about one of our country’s most disturbing and sinister secrets. Co-produced by George Clooney and directed by Libby Spears, PLAYGROUND gives viewers an alarming look into the insidious world of child sex trafficking in America, specifically in Atlanta. PLAYGROUND will benefit The Center to End Adolescent Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) and Angela’s House, with all ticket proceeds being donated to the foundation on behalf of Judge Sanford “Sammy” Jones. Longtime Atlanta child advocate Judge Jones tragically passed away in May 2009 while in the midst of aiding filmmaker Libby Spears to expose Atlanta’s growing industry of child sex workers. In recognition of Judge Jones’ lifelong crusade to save Atlanta’s children and his assistance towards its completion, Libby Spears and Blu-Print Films have dedicated the documentary PLAYGROUND in his honor. While traveling to the Philippines in 2001, Spears gained firsthand knowledge of the outrageous practice of trafficking human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Appalled by this modern-day slavery, Spears began a covert investigation to document the worldwide child sex trafficking problem, and to see if and how it led back to the United States. What she was astonished to find was the involvement of the United States and the degree to which U.S. citizens were influencing the global demand and growth of the sex trafficking industry. Playground examines our legal and social systems, and their inability to deal with this crisis.
