What do pizza, nachos and magic carpets have to do with the planet Pluto? You don’t know? Then take a faster-than-light-speed journey through our solar system and get acquainted with your planetary neighbors. Along the way you’ll see spots on the sun, seas on the moon, rovers on Mars, and rings around more than one planet. Keith Hughes combines a decade of astronomical observations and classroom instruction to create a fun, interactive learning experience. The format is divided between lecture and hands-on observation through the instructor’s telescope (weather permitting). Students who own a telescope are encouraged to bring it to class, though it is not a requirement.
