Georgia Aquarium Debuts New “Out of Water” Exhibition Planet Shark: Predator or Prey
The Georgia Aquarium just announced the world debut of Planet Shark: Predator or Prey, the most comprehensive and innovative “out of water” exhibition to tour the world. Opening October 3, 2009, and for a limited time in Atlanta, guests can explore the unique relationships between humans and the most feared predator on earth – the shark. Presented by the Australian based producer Grande Exhibitions, this 10,000 + square foot exhibition will feature full scale shark models, fossils dating back 350 million years, authentic artifacts from the movie “Jaws”, stories about shark encounters told by survivors, amazing “frozen in time” displays, an examination of shark bodies and hunting strategies, high definition videos and more!
Complementing the existing population of 70 live sharks representing 14 different species at the Aquarium, the exhibit will also include interactive educational displays to teach guests about the issues facing sharks due to shark fining and other over-fishing practices, and will give detailed information on the Great White satellite tagging program and other conservation efforts.
