Young and dutiful Fredric has agreed to serve with pirates until his 21st birthday. But alas, being born on leap year day, February 29th, Frederic must face the prospect that he will not be free and independent until he is well over 80 years old -- and he can hardly expect his beloved Mabel to wait. Will Frederic be forced to duel with the Pirate King to secure his freedom? The mayhem unfolds as Frederic enlists the help of the local police -- a chorus of lugubrious Bobbies -- among the most hilarious plot devices Gilbert has ever utilized.
