Denton Community Theatre’s Theatre School (DCTTS) is pleased to announce that their Fall Production will be PINOCCHIO COMMEDIA. The young artists enrolled in DCTTS’s Fall Production Class have been challenged by the script selected. Their rehearsal process has given the actors a wonderful opportunity to study a specific style of theatre known as Commedia Dell’ Arte. The commedia style, began inItaly during the Renaissance and is known for its high energy, exaggeration and physical comedy.

In true commedia fashion, Simon’s script begins with a troupe of strolling players mounting the stage to present a play. With their stylistic masks and costumes, noisy props and on-stage sound effects, the players proceed with great vigor and excitement to tell the charming and significant message of Carlo Collodi’s famous story of Pinocchio. Faced with the fate of telling falsehoods, Pinocchio struggles to be granted the wish his heart most openly desires….to be “a real boy”! Will Pinocchio’s wish to be “a real boy” come true? Children, as well as those who are “young at heart”, will be fully entertained as the answer to this question is revealed in this refreshing Commedia Dell’ Arte version of the classic story.
