Pianist and music faculty member Donald Berman is joined by special guests Gil Morgenstern, violinist and director of the acclaimed Reflections series, and Ole Akahoshi, violoncellist from the Yale School of Music, to present two transformative works: Arnold Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2. Schoenberg’s trio teeters on the fault lines between romanticism and modernism, while Shostakovich’s work marks the liberation of the concentration camps in 1945.
