By kind permission of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) we are pleased to welcome soprano Sarah Ogden and pianist Ewan Gilford for this afternoon concert.
Sarah Ogden recently completed her postgraduate studies at the RNCM under the tutelage of Stuart MacIntyre, where was awarded the Dame Eva Turner scholarship.
Whilst a student at the College Sarah won the 2010 Bessie Cronshaw Song Cycle Competition, was runner-up in the 2011 Michael and Joyce Kennedy Strauss Prize and a finalist in the 2011 Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition. She recently made her Wigmore Hall debut and feels privileged to have worked with Sir Mark Elder as a soloist with the RNCM Chamber Orchestra.
Ewan Gilford is a pianist originally from Sheffield who has recently completed a Master’s in Repetiteur Studies at the RNCM. He graduated from Leeds College of Music in June 2009 with a BA (Hons) in Music Studies.
During his studies at the RNCM Ewan has gained experience as an accompanist and repetiteur, playing for various competitions and concerts including accompanying a finalist in the RNCM John Ireland Prize, the winner of the RNCM English Song Competition and being 'Highly Commended' in the RNCM Song Cycle Prize.
Ewan has been involved in a number of outreach projects across the north of England that include regular engagements for Opera North's education department. He also acts as a repetiteur for the Opera North Children's Chorus.
