Physics professor to deliver annual Star of Bethlehem talk

St. Catherine University's annual holiday presentation, "The Star of Bethlehem," by Terry Flower, Ph.D. is Thursday, Dec. 9, 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Our Lady of Victory Chapel on the St. Paul campus, 2004 Randolph Ave.

Chair of the Physics Department at St. Kate's, Flower leads his audience on a journey of discovery and share insights into the First Christmas from the perspective of current astronomical knowledge and science's ability to turn back the clock of the universe.

He will illuminate what shepherds and the wise men might have seen and discuss scripture passages that provide additional information as well as historical data and records of astronomical observations to help understand the nature of the Star of Bethlehem and what it means for modern times.

More about Terry Flower
Terry Flower has taught physics and astronomy at St. Catherine University since 1979. He has held the Endowed Chair of Science and has also been a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Physics at the United States Air Force Academy.

He has directed a number of National Science Foundation Chautauqua short courses for college faculty and frequently leads student groups across the South Pacific, South America and Anarctica, including a study abroad trip on global warming, rain forests and penguins during January term 2010.
