Celebrating Ten Years of the World Monuments Watch

World Monuments Fund is proud to announce the inaugural exhibition in the new World Monuments Fund Gallery at the Prince George. Ten extraordinary, yet once imperiled, architectural treasures -- from Egypt's Valley of the Kings to the Alexander Palace, last home of the Tsars in St. Petersburg, Russia -- are highlighted. The first 100 visitors will receive a free set of notecards from the exhibition and a copy of ICON, WMF's award-winning quarterly.

World Monuments Fund Gallery is housed in the historic Prince George, which was originally built as a grand hotel and later restored by Common Ground Community, a non-profit working to solve homelessness through innovative programs that transform people, buildings, and communities. The Gallery is adjacent to the recently restored Prince George Ballroom, NYC's newest grand event space. For more on the Ballroom: Toby Sherman (tsherman@commonground.org, 917-658-6805).

The World Monuments Watch list of 100 Most Endangered Sites, a groundbreaking partnership program of World Monuments Fund and American Express, was launched in 1995 to call attention to the plight of imperiled cultural heritage sites around the world and to direct financial support and technical assistance toward their preservation. Over the last ten years, the World Monuments Watch has leveraged more than $118 million for sites on the list.

New York-based World Monuments Fund is the foremost private, non-profit organization dedicated to architectural conservation worldwide through fieldwork, advocacy, grantmaking, education, and training programs.
